It tells the story of a bear who stows away on a ship headed for England. He arrives at Paddington Station with nothing but his suitcase, a nearly empty jar of marmalade and a label which reads, ‘Please look after this bear. Thank-you.’

The book ‘Palace of Books’ is written and illustrated by by Patricia Polacco. In this book a young girl finds solace in a library after moving to a new town. The library becomes a place or ‘palace’ where she can explore her interests and find comfort. The main theme is how books bring joy and how libraries can have a great impact on people, including children. The book expresses the joy of nature and learning through books.

The book ‘Peter’s Chair’ is written by Ezra Jack Keats. The story is about how Peter struggles to adapt to changes in his family when a baby sister arrives. It focuses on how he feels at first, and how he changes and feels more included by the end.

The book ‘Pete the Cat’s Groovy Imagination” is by Kimberly and James Dean. In this story, Pete the Cat has to cancel his beach day plans due to the rain. Instead, Pete uses his imagination to take him on a whole new set of adventures!

In this story, Pete the Cat is feeling good in his brand new white shoes, just walking along, singing his song. No matter where he goes in his ‘School Shoes’ he is singing his song. But what happens when he has to do it all again tomorrow?

In this story, Pete the Cat is off to get some ice cream from the ‘Just Chillin’ ice cream truck, but on his way he discovers his friends need help! The book “Ron’s Big Mission’ is written by Corinne Naden and illustrated by Don Tate. The book based on a true story about Ron McNair who lived in South Carolina in the 1950’s. In the book, Ron loves to read and goes to the library regularly. In particular, he loves to read books about airplanes and flight. However, Ron is not allowed to take books out of the library to take home because of the segregation laws in place at that time. One day, Ron challenges this law by demanding he be allowed a library card in order to take books home. In real life, Ron McNair later became a scientist and an astronaut.
